FAQ
What is a reading light?
A book light, also known as a reading light, is an electric lamp that illuminates reading material. It's useful for individuals who read at night, in dim lighting, or even while knitting.
What is color temperature?
Color temperature is a way to measure a light source's color properties. It uses numbers on a range that goes from warm to cool colors and is measured in degrees Kelvin (K). Simply put, color temperature describes the warmth or coolness of a light's color features. As the color temperature drops, the light becomes more yellow, and as it rises, the light becomes whiter.
What is the difference between lumen and watt?
Watts and lumens measure different things. Watts show how much energy a light bulb consumes, whilst lumens indicate the bulb's brightness, or the amount of light that the bulb emits. Wattage cannot tell you how bright the bulb is, but lumens can.
What is the suitable lumen for each type of book reading light?
Lumens measure how much visible light a lamp or book light emits per unit of time. They are a new way to determine the brightness of a reading light. The brightness of a book light is closely related to lumens. Depending on the environment you are reading in, you may need different book lights to suit your needs.
Neck Light: A neck reading light with 60 lumens is bright enough. It allows you to see stitches and patterns clearly even with dark yarns, and you can also use it to read in bed before sleeping.
Amber Book Light: For an amber light, 20 lumens are typically preferred. It produces a soft, gentle glow that stimulates your body to produce more melatonin naturally. People frequently use it for reading in bed before sleep with the special amber mode.
Book Light for Kids: Children can be sensitive to bright lights when reading, particularly when using a book light before bedtime. For this reason, the light should be gentle on their eyes.
A book reading light with 15 lumens is preferred for children reading before bed. When it comes to clip-on book lights, more lumens are typically necessary due to their larger size and weight. Therefore, people generally utilize clip-on book lights as reading lamps attached to a fixed surface, such as a bed or headboard. A clip-on book light designed for optimal performance typically emits over 150 lumens, illuminating the entire bedroom for activities beyond reading.
What is CRI (color rendering index)?
You'll come across the CRI abbreviation when shopping for lighting bulbs and fixtures. The color rendering index, or CRI, measures a light source's ability to display object colors in a natural-looking manner under a white artificial light compared to sunlight. Simply put, the higher the CRI, the more striking and vivid your illuminated items will appear.
Which book light is right for you?
When picking out a book light, you must think about the brightness, how easy it is to use, how portable it is, the charging options, battery power, style, and cost.
Gritin offers excellent neck lights for reading that are small, user-friendly, and feature different brightness levels and charging options. These lights are also designed to limit eye strain and deliver maximum comfort to the reader when in dimly lit conditions.
